Privacy Policy
Effective Date: May 7, 2026
This privacy policy applies to the Cricket Scoring app (hereby referred to as "Application") for mobile devices that was created by Prasanna Angara Jathan (hereby referred to as "Service Provider") as an Ad Supported service. This service is intended for use "AS IS".
Information Collection and Use
The Application collects information when you download and use it. The categories below correspond to the data types disclosed on the Application's App Store and Google Play privacy listings.
- Contact Info — Email address, name, and phone number (if you sign up, sign in, or claim a player or team profile)
- Identifiers — A unique User ID assigned to your account when you sign in; and your device's advertising identifier (Device ID), described in detail in the "Device Identifiers and Advertising Data" section below
- Usage Data (Product Interaction) — The screens of the Application you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those screens, and the time spent in the Application overall
- Diagnostics — Crash reports and performance metrics, described in detail in the "Diagnostics and Performance Data" section below
- Coarse Location — Approximate geographic location, used only to determine which privacy regime applies to you (see paragraph below)
- Other — Your device's IP address, the operating system you use, cricket match data you create (teams, players, scores), profile photos (optional), and follow preferences (players, teams, or matches you follow)
The Application uses approximate (coarse) location only to determine which privacy regulations apply to you — for example, to enable GDPR-style enhanced consent controls for users in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland. The Application does not collect, store, or share precise location data, does not use location for personalized content or recommendations, and does not transmit location data to third-party services for advertising or marketing purposes.
The Service Provider may use the information you provided to contact you from time to time to provide you with important information and required notices.
For a better experience, while using the Application, the Service Provider may require you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information, including but not limited to email, name, and photo. The information that the Service Provider requests will be retained by them and used as described in this privacy policy.
Device Identifiers and Advertising Data
When advertising is enabled, the Application accesses your device's advertising identifier (on iOS, the IDFA; on Android, the Google Advertising ID) through Google AdMob. This identifier is the "Device ID" disclosed in the App Store privacy listing and is used for the following purposes:
- Personalized advertising — only with your explicit consent, requested via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt on iOS or Google's User Messaging Platform prompt on Android (see "iOS App Tracking Transparency" section below)
- Ad delivery and frequency capping — to avoid showing you the same ad repeatedly
- Ad performance measurement — impressions, clicks, and conversions ("Advertising Data" in the App Store privacy listing)
If you do not grant tracking permission, AdMob will serve only non-personalized ads and will not access your advertising identifier for cross-app or cross-site tracking. You can reset or limit your advertising identifier at any time through your device's system settings (iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising; Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads).
Diagnostics and Performance Data
To identify bugs and improve the Application's stability and performance, the Application collects two categories of diagnostic information through Google's Firebase platform:
- Crash Data — When the Application crashes, technical diagnostic information (stack traces, device model, operating system version, and app state at the time of the crash) is sent to Firebase Crashlytics. Crash data is not linked to your personal identity.
- Performance Data — Anonymous metrics such as app launch time, screen render time, and network request latency are collected via Firebase Performance Monitoring to identify slowness and stability issues. Performance data is not linked to your personal identity.
Crash and performance data are used solely to maintain and improve the Application. They are not used for advertising or sold to third parties.
Third Party Access
Only aggregated, anonymized data is periodically transmitted to external services to aid the Service Provider in improving the Application and their service. The Service Provider may share your information with third parties in the ways that are described in this privacy statement.
Please note that the Application utilizes third-party services that have their own Privacy Policy about handling data. Below are the links to the Privacy Policy of the third-party service providers used by the Application:
- Google Play Services (Android)
- Apple Privacy Policy (iOS)
- AdMob
- Google Analytics for Firebase
- Firebase Crashlytics
- Expo
- Firebase Storage
- Firebase Authentication
- Firebase Firestore
The Service Provider may disclose User Provided and Automatically Collected Information:
- as required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, or similar legal process;
- when they believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect their rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request;
- with their trusted services providers who work on their behalf, do not have an independent use of the information we disclose to them, and have agreed to adhere to the rules set forth in this privacy statement.
Authentication
The Application offers multiple sign-in options:
- Guest Mode: Use the app without creating an account (data stored locally only)
- Email/Password: Create an account with your email address
- Google Sign-In: Authenticate using your Google account
- Sign in with Apple (iOS only): Authenticate using your Apple ID. Apple may provide a private relay email address instead of your real email address. We only receive the name and email you choose to share. This data is managed by Firebase Authentication and Apple's authentication services.
Authentication data is managed by Firebase Authentication and follows Google's and Apple's privacy policies.
User-Created Content
The Application allows you to create and store cricket match data, including team names, player names, and match statistics. This data is stored:
- Locally on your device by default for offline functionality
- In the cloud (Firebase) if you choose to sync or share matches
- Match data you share becomes publicly accessible via a unique link
- You retain ownership of all cricket data you create
Profile Claiming and Verification
The Application allows cricket players and teams to claim their profiles:
- You may provide an email address or phone number to claim a player or team profile
- Contact information (email/phone) becomes immutable after claiming for security purposes
- Claimed profiles can be linked to your user account
- One user account can link to one player profile OR one team profile (not both)
- Profile photos are optional and stored via Firebase Storage
Your Choices and Opt-Out Rights
You have several ways to control what information the Application collects and how it is used:
- Tracking and personalized ads — On iOS, you can deny the App Tracking Transparency prompt or change your choice later in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. On Android, you can manage ads personalization in Settings → Privacy → Ads.
- Granular consent (GDPR/EEA/UK/Switzerland) — In the app's Privacy Settings, you can independently consent to or decline analytics, advertising, and crash reporting.
- Account deletion — You can delete your account and associated data at any time from the in-app privacy settings or by emailing jathanscreatives@gmail.com.
- Match data deletion — Individual matches and profiles can be deleted at any time within the app.
- Stop all collection — You can stop all data collection by the Application by uninstalling it through your device's standard uninstall process.
Data Retention Policy
The Service Provider will retain data as follows:
- Match Data: Retained as long as you use the Application or until you delete specific matches
- Profile Data: Retained while your account is active and deleted soon after account deletion
- Local Data: Cleared automatically when you logout (for authenticated users only)
- GDPR Consent: Retained indefinitely (on your device until uninstalled) to comply with legal requirements
If you'd like to delete your data, please contact us at jathanscreatives@gmail.com or use the in-app privacy settings to manage your data.
Children
The Service Provider does not use the Application to knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13.
The Application does not address anyone under the age of 13. The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age. In the case the Service Provider discover that a child under 13 has provided personal information, the Service Provider will immediately delete this from their servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact the Service Provider (jathanscreatives@gmail.com) so that they will be able to take the necessary actions.
iOS App Tracking Transparency
On iOS devices, the Application uses Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework in connection with AdMob advertising. Before any cross-app or cross-site tracking data is accessed, the Application will ask for your permission via the iOS tracking prompt:
- If you allow tracking, AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) to show personalized ads based on your activity across apps and websites owned by other companies.
- If you deny tracking, only non-personalized ads will be shown. No advertising identifier is accessed.
You can change this permission at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
GDPR Compliance
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, and Switzerland, the Application complies with GDPR requirements:
- Granular Consent: You can manage individual consent preferences for analytics, ads, and crash reporting in the app's Privacy Settings
- Right to Access: You can view all your stored data in the app
- Right to Deletion: You can delete matches, profiles, or your entire account
- Right to Portability: Export match data as PDF scorecards
- Data Minimization: We only collect data necessary for app functionality
Security
The Service Provider is concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. The Service Provider provides physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect information the Service Provider processes and maintains.
